Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring for a Veterinary Surgeon position. The hospital provides advanced specialty, emergency, and general veterinary care for companion animals and is seeking an experienced, board-certified or residency-trained surgeon to deliver high-quality surgical care within a collaborative clinical environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital provides 24/7 emergency services, operating continuously Monday through Sunday. General practice and specialty services operate Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The role is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Specific doctor schedules, weekend rotations, and after-hours expectations beyond the hospital’s operating hours are to be discussed with the practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role is open to experienced veterinarians only, specifically those who are board-certified or residency trained in surgery. Clinical responsibilities include performing advanced elective and non-elective surgical procedures, working closely with veterinary nurses who manage anesthesia and electronic patient monitoring, and ensuring thorough post-operative monitoring and pain management. The Veterinary Surgeon will assess patients, recommend appropriate surgical plans using minimally invasive approaches where possible, and provide clear at-home care instructions to clients. The role also involves collaboration with veterinary colleagues, technicians, hospital leadership, and support staff to uphold high clinical standards and deliver compassionate, effective care.

The hospital is a state-of-the-art specialty and emergency facility offering advanced surgical services alongside oncology, internal medicine, and critical care. Facilities include a dedicated surgical suite, modern diagnostics, advanced imaging capabilities, and comprehensive monitoring equipment to support surgical excellence. Services offered range from preventive care and routine wellness through to complex medical and emergency surgeries, including mass removals, foreign body surgeries, wound repair, spaying and neutering, and dental surgery. The practice culture emphasizes compassion, minimally invasive techniques, patient safety, and continuity of care from admission through recovery.

The hospital is supported by 7 DVMs and a fantastic support team, creating a collaborative, well-structured environment focused on teamwork, efficiency, and exceptional patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
