Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a specialty and referral hospital in Wilder, Kentucky, hiring for a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Small Animal Surgeon to join their growing surgical team. The hospital provides advanced specialty care and emergency services for small animals.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital’s specialty services operate by appointment Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Emergency services are available Monday through Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with no emergency services on Thursdays. The position is full-time, with scheduling aligned to the hospital’s specialty service hours.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Small Animal Surgeon will provide a full range of surgical services, including soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurologic surgeries. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with a diverse team of specialists, consulting with the emergency department on complex cases, performing advanced surgical procedures, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and mentorship. The role is open to board-certified or residency-trained surgeons.
Practice Details
The hospital offers a wide range of specialty services including internal medicine, dermatology, surgery, neurology, cardiology, oncology, and rehabilitation. The facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, including ultrasound, CT imaging, video otoscopy, endoscopy, colonoscopy, intradermal allergen screening, and therapeutic lasers. The practice culture is collaborative and innovative, with a focus on professional growth and team support.
Team
The team includes three DVMs supported by a highly skilled and tenured technician and support staff. The environment is collaborative, mentoring-focused, and encourages professional development, with board-certified specialists leading each department.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
