Introduction
A leading 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Surgeon to join its established multidisciplinary team of 15 doctors, including emergency clinicians and board-certified specialists. Recognised as one of the premier referral centres in the Southwest, this AAHA-accredited facility offers the scale, case complexity, and infrastructure to support advanced surgical practice in a highly collaborative environment.
Working Hours / Rota
Both full-time and part-time positions are available. As a 24/7 referral and emergency centre, scheduling is structured to support specialty caseload demand while maintaining collaborative coverage across departments. The rota is designed to ensure continuity of care and strong communication between surgery, emergency, and specialty services.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Surgeon will provide advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical care within a busy referral environment. Responsibilities include consultation, surgical planning and execution, perioperative case management, and collaboration with internal medicine, critical care, oncology, neurology, radiology, and emergency services. You will contribute to case discussions, support interns and specialty trainees, and help maintain high clinical standards across the hospital. The role requires confident surgical decision-making, strong client communication skills, and a commitment to evidence-based medicine. Diplomate status or completion of an approved surgical residency is required.
Practice Details
This 18,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art referral facility features a newly renovated 34-bed ICU equipped with Snyder oxygen cages, a Newport E360 critical care ventilator, isolation capabilities, and a 12-patient telemetry system. Advanced imaging includes two Sound/Eklin DR systems, 64-slice CT, 1.5 Tesla MRI, Logiq 9 ultrasound, Storz video endoscopy, and C-arm fluoroscopy. The hospital also includes a newly designed minimally invasive surgical suite and a USP 800-compliant oncology suite. A dedicated diagnostic imaging team of highly trained radiology technicians supports the clinical team, and the hospital maintains active rotating and specialty internship programs, contributing to a strong academic and collaborative culture.
Team
You will join a team of 15 veterinarians, comprising emergency clinicians and board-certified specialists across surgery, internal medicine, critical care, oncology, neurology, radiology, and emergency services. The environment is collegial and consultation-driven, with a strong emphasis on shared expertise and interdisciplinary case management. The culture supports mentorship, teaching, and ongoing professional development within a high-performing referral setting.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
