Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing 24/7 emergency, critical care, and specialist veterinary services for dogs and cats in Hickory, North Carolina, and is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join the team. The hospital is open to both full-time and part-time applicants and offers a modern, advanced clinical environment focused on delivering high-quality specialist veterinary medicine alongside a collaborative team of experienced clinicians and veterinary specialists.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Surgeon will provide specialist surgical care for dogs and cats, managing complex surgical cases and performing procedures using advanced surgical equipment and techniques. Responsibilities include collaborating with specialists in internal medicine, emergency and critical care, behaviour, and rehabilitation to deliver comprehensive treatment plans and support patients throughout their surgical care. The role involves utilising minimally invasive surgical techniques where appropriate, maintaining strong relationships with referring veterinarians and clients, and contributing to a positive, supportive, and team-oriented clinical environment. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian with a strong surgical background.

Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, purpose-built 12,000-square-foot specialty and emergency facility offering 24/7 emergency and critical care alongside specialist services in internal medicine, surgery, behaviour, and rehabilitation. Facilities include 12 spacious examination rooms, a fully staffed intensive care unit, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory offering chemistry, CBC, blood gas analysis, EPOC, SediVue, faecal testing, and telecytology. Advanced diagnostic equipment includes CT, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, colour-flow Doppler ultrasound, and endoscopy, alongside minimally invasive surgical equipment and comprehensive surgical instrumentation. The hospital also provides oxygen therapy through ICU oxygen cages and high-flow oxygen systems, radioactive iodine therapy for feline hyperthyroidism, and access to consultations with board-certified radiologists and clinical pathologists. Rehabilitation facilities include an underwater treadmill, K-Laser therapy, electrical stimulation, and an exercise treadmill to support pre- and postoperative recovery. Emergency services operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.

The hospital has a highly skilled multidisciplinary team consisting of board-certified veterinary specialists, experienced emergency clinicians, veterinary technicians, and dedicated support staff. The intensive care unit benefits from dedicated veterinary and technical support around the clock, allowing the team to manage a high-volume caseload. The working environment is collaborative and supportive, with an emphasis on mentorship, clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, transparency, and positive communication across departments.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
