Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital in Crystal Lake, Illinois, seeking a Board-Certified Surgeon or residency-trained clinician to join their specialty and emergency team. This hospital provides comprehensive, round-the-clock care exclusively for companion animals and is the only 24/7 specialty, referral, and emergency facility in the greater McHenry County region. The role offers an exciting opportunity for a small animal surgeon to contribute to a multidisciplinary service, with the option to explore a leadership position as Specialty Medical Director.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The position is centered on surgical responsibilities within a diverse and collaborative clinical environment. The surgeon will work alongside emergency, internal medicine, and integrative medicine teams to manage complex and chronic cases. The role is open to board-certified surgeons or those who are residency trained. Candidates interested in leadership may inquire about a Specialty Medical Director opportunity at this location.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with on-site CT imaging, digital radiology, ultrasound, cold lasers, endoscopy, ECG/EKG, and an in-house laboratory. The facility supports a wide array of diagnostic capabilities, including rhinoscopy, ultrasound-guided biopsies, GI endoscopy, and more. Services offered include emergency care, internal medicine, surgery, rehabilitation, and hydrotherapy. The caseload is varied and supported by modern equipment and a collaborative infrastructure focused on efficient and accurate patient care.
Team
The team includes 8 DVMs, among them an internal medicine specialist. The hospital fosters a collaborative, expert-led environment with cross-departmental support to ensure comprehensive, high-quality patient outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
