Introduction
Our client is a multi-specialty referral and emergency hospital seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Surgeon to join their growing team in Charlottesville, Virginia. The hospital provides advanced medical, surgical, and critical care services for dogs and cats and supports a large regional community with a broad caseload across multiple specialty departments.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital provides 24/7 emergency coverage, while specialty services operate Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Specialty services are closed on weekends. The position can be full time or part time, offering scheduling flexibility to support work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Surgeon will work within a collaborative team of specialists and emergency clinicians, performing advanced orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and minimally invasive surgeries. The role is supported by a dedicated anesthesia and surgical team that provides continuous monitoring and post-operative care. Responsibilities include performing complex surgical procedures, collaborating closely with other specialty disciplines, guiding coordinated patient care, and maintaining strong communication with clients and referring veterinarians. This position is intended for a board-certified or residency-trained surgeon who thrives in a busy referral environment and is committed to delivering exceptional surgical care.

Practice Details
The hospital offers a state-of-the-art facility equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, holmium laser technology, and minimally invasive surgical tools. Additional services include internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, critical care, rehabilitation, imaging, diagnostics, and pain management. A Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner oversees a comprehensive rehabilitation department that supports post-operative and therapeutic care. The practice maintains a collaborative, specialist-led culture focused on solving complex medical problems and delivering high-standard patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
