Job Description

Introduction
A locally managed Emergency and Specialty hospital in Portland, Oregon is looking to welcome a Veterinary Radiologist as its second boarded Radiologist. The hospital has grown quickly since opening in 2022 and has recently completed an expansion of its modern facility, providing advanced referral and emergency care across the wider Portland area. There’s a strong focus on excellent medicine and patient care, but just as importantly, the hospital puts a lot of value on creating a positive and supportive culture where specialists can enjoy working collaboratively while continuing to develop their individual interests.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of Veterinary Radiology responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to work with a varied referral caseload while making use of the hospital’s extensive advanced imaging capabilities. You’ll be joining an established Radiologist and working closely with specialists across Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology and Critical Care, alongside an experienced Emergency service. Advanced imaging is available seven days a week, and daily case rounds give the team a relaxed opportunity to talk through more challenging cases, share knowledge and bring different specialties together when needed. There’s also plenty of opportunity to grow the Radiology service and pursue your own clinical interests, with the technology, referral base and wider specialist team there to support you. This opportunity is suited to a board-certified Veterinary Radiologist.

Practice Details
The hospital provides Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Dialysis, Urgent Care and advanced imaging, with overnight care available for hospitalized patients. Equipment and facilities available include, but are not limited to, a Canon Aplio A450 Ultrasound, GE OEC 9800 Plus C-Arm, Siemens Avanto 1.5T MRI, Toshiba Aquilion 128-Slice CT, PrisMax and PuriFi Dialysis Systems, Ho Laser, Tudor Underwater Treadmill and three state-of-the-art Digital X-Ray rooms, alongside a fully equipped ER and ICU. The hospital operates from a large, modern facility which has recently undergone further expansion. Emergency and Specialty admitting hours are currently 7:00 AM to midnight, seven days a week, with overnight care provided for inpatients.

Team
You’ll be joining a genuinely multidisciplinary specialist team that currently includes 3 Surgeons, 2 Internists, 3 Neurologists, 1 Radiologist, 1 Ophthalmologist, 3 Criticalists and an experienced Emergency service. There’s a strong emphasis on people actually working together across specialties, with daily case rounds making it easy to bounce ideas around, get another perspective on a difficult case and share knowledge with the people around you. The hospital also runs a rotating internship program, giving specialists the opportunity to mentor aspiring veterinarians while contributing to the wider learning environment. With a large specialist team, experienced ER clinicians and established support around you, there’s plenty of opportunity to collaborate while still having the freedom to develop your own service and clinical interests.
