Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital based in northeast Albuquerque that is hiring for a Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join their team. This role focuses on providing advanced ophthalmology care for cats and dogs within a collaborative, specialty and primary care environment.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open 7am–9pm every day, with Sunday hours being 8am–9pm. The position can be either full or part-time, with doctor hours open to discussion.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide the full scope of ophthalmology services. Applicants must be residency trained or board certified.
Practice Details
The hospital recently moved into a beautiful, new, 35,000 square foot facility in northeast Albuquerque. It is a hybrid hospital, offering both specialty and primary care services. The hospital is AAHA-accredited and holds an AAFP Gold Cat-Friendly Practice certification. Facilities include dedicated suites for ultrasound, endoscopy, six surgical suites, oncology (including a chemo hood), ER procedures, and I-131 treatment. Advanced imaging technology includes a 128-slice CT scanner, an MRI, and three ultrasound machines. The hospital also features a linear accelerator, making it the only hospital in New Mexico able to offer radiation therapy.
Team
The hospital has a wonderful group of general practitioners and specialists and prides itself on prioritizing collegiality and collaboration. Teamwork is central to their culture, ensuring there is always support available and smooth patient transfers between services. The team includes boarded specialists in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, and surgery. Support staff includes an experienced patient care team, a strong client service team, and a highly regarded referral management department. The management team is stable, focusing on both patient care and associate well-being and retention.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
