A newly built, multi-specialty referral hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington is seeking a Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join a progressive and collaborative specialty team. This opportunity is ideal for a board-certified or residency-trained ophthalmologist looking to practice high-level medicine in a modern facility that prioritises clinical excellence, teamwork, and sustainable work–life balance.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Sunday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm and is closed on Saturdays. Specialty schedules are designed to support predictability and flexibility, allowing clinicians to maintain a healthy balance between professional commitments and life outside of work.

Role Description and Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide advanced ophthalmic diagnostics, medical management, and surgical care for referred cases while collaborating closely with emergency clinicians and other specialty services. You will have the autonomy to shape ophthalmology services within the hospital, contribute to case discussions across departments, and support referring veterinarians through clear communication and shared decision-making. The position offers the opportunity to build and grow a dedicated ophthalmology service within a well-established referral environment.

Practice Details
This 21,000 square foot, state-of-the-art specialty and emergency hospital has been purpose-built to support advanced referral care. The facility includes a dedicated ICU with long-term mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, comprehensive in-house laboratory services, advanced imaging including 128-slice CT and MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, minimally invasive surgery, flexible and rigid endoscopy, radioactive iodine therapy, and an in-house blood bank with component therapy. The hospital layout and equipment selection are designed to support efficiency, collaboration, and excellent patient outcomes.

Team
You will join a large, multi-doctor referral team that includes six emergency veterinarians alongside specialists in neurology, internal medicine, and surgery, supported by highly skilled technicians and support staff. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
