Our client is a veterinary ophthalmology hospital that is hiring for a part-time board certified or residency trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist. The hospital sees cats, dogs, exotic pets, and large animals, offering a highly varied and specialist caseload. As one of six leading veterinary ophthalmology practices in South Florida, the hospital provides cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care for pets within a modern and collaborative clinical environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role involves a full scope of Veterinary Ophthalmologist responsibilities within a specialist referral setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient exams and medical work-ups, client communication and education, and maintaining accurate medical records. Additional responsibilities include pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols, while also promoting teamwork and staff efficiency throughout the hospital. The position involves working closely with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations, evaluating and monitoring protocols for the daily running of the hospital from intake through to discharge, and monitoring hospitalized cases while attending daily rounds whenever possible to ensure the highest standards of patient care are maintained. The successful candidate will also participate in practice management updates and training across all levels of the hospital, alongside other duties assigned by management. Hours will be discussed. This opportunity is suited to an experienced Veterinary Ophthalmologist with strong diagnostic and clinical skills who has completed a three-year AVMA approved residency program.

Practice Details
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on weekends. Equipment available includes, but is not limited to, an in-house laboratory, ocular ultrasound, electroretinography, and endolaser technology. The practice features modern, well-equipped ophthalmology-specific examination and surgical suites alongside an in-house pharmacy, supporting a highly advanced clinical environment. The hospital provides complete ophthalmic services and benefits from an excellent relationship within the veterinary community, creating a strong and consistent referral base.

Team
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced veterinary technicians and support staff trained specifically in ophthalmology. The hospital offers a smooth and collaborative clinical environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care and professional support.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
