Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a specialty veterinary practice hiring a full-time Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join an established referral-focused team. The hospital provides advanced ophthalmic care for companion animals and is seeking an experienced, board-certified or residency-trained specialist committed to delivering high-quality medicine and exceptional client communication.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. This is a full-time position. After-hours, emergency, or on-call requirements are to be discussed with the practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Ophthalmologist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and advanced medical work-ups, diagnosing and treating a wide range of ocular diseases, and developing individualized treatment plans that may include medical management or surgical intervention. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and detailed medical records, prescribing medications in accordance with controlled substance protocols, providing clear client communication and education, and collaborating closely with referring veterinarians. The role also involves promoting teamwork and staff efficiency, participating in daily rounds when possible, supporting hospital protocols from intake through discharge, and engaging in ongoing training and practice management initiatives. This position is open to experienced veterinarians who are board-certified or residency trained in ophthalmology.

Practice Details
This specialty-focused hospital delivers comprehensive diagnostic and surgical ophthalmology services for companion animals. Advanced diagnostic capabilities include ocular ultrasound and electroretinography, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Services offered include medical and surgical management of cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disease, uveitis, dry eye, infections, tumors, and other ocular conditions. Surgical offerings include cataract surgery, corneal surgery, endolaser procedures, orbital and eyelid surgery, cherry eye repair, and entropion correction. The practice culture emphasizes collaboration, compassionate care, and strong partnerships with primary care veterinarians to preserve vision and improve patient quality of life.

Team
The hospital is supported by a team of six DVMs and a great support staff. The environment is collaborative and team-oriented, with experienced technicians and support team members contributing to a high standard of specialty patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
