Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital seeking a Veterinary Medical Oncologist to join their team, providing advanced cancer care for small animals and exotics. This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary environment dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered oncology care for animals with complex medical needs.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital’s emergency service operates 24/7, ensuring continuous care for patients. This is a full-time position, with specific doctor hours to be discussed.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Medical Oncologist will be responsible for the diagnosis and management of cancer in companion animals, providing advanced care for patients with oncologic conditions. The role involves performing comprehensive examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing individualized treatment plans that may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and palliative care. You will monitor patient responses to treatment, manage treatment-related side effects, and maintain accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with regulatory standards. Clear and compassionate communication with pet owners is essential, as you will discuss complex diagnoses and treatment options while guiding clients through the decision-making process. The position also involves collaborating closely with referring veterinarians and the wider clinical team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care for each patient. The role is open to board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Medical Oncologists.

Practice Details
The hospital treats a high caseload, with more than 15,000 patients coming through its doors each year. It offers a comprehensive range of specialty and emergency services including cardiology, critical care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, medical oncology, neurology and neurosurgery, radiology, surgery, and urgent care. The facility is equipped with the resources and advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities required to deliver top-tier veterinary care, supporting specialists in managing complex medical cases across multiple disciplines.

Team
The clinical team includes 30 DVMs, including two other Medical Oncologists, supported by a highly skilled group of veterinary technicians and support staff. The hospital fosters a collaborative and supportive environment where specialists work closely together, backed by an experienced support team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining a positive, team-focused workplace culture.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
