Job Description
Introduction
An established veterinary oncology practice in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Medical Oncologist to join its specialist team. The Richmond facility offers a highly specialized environment combining advanced oncology treatment, diagnostic imaging and dedicated clinical facilities, supported by an experienced team of board-certified oncologists and oncology-focused technical professionals.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Medical Oncologist will manage a specialist oncology caseload, providing comprehensive assessment, diagnostic investigation, staging, treatment planning and ongoing management for patients with a wide range of cancers. Responsibilities include developing individualized treatment plans, clearly communicating diagnoses, prognoses and therapeutic options with owners, and working collaboratively with referring veterinarians, Radiation Oncology and the wider specialist network to coordinate patient care. The position provides access to advanced oncology diagnostics and multiple treatment modalities, with an experienced technical team supporting case management and treatment delivery. The successful candidate will work a four-day week with no weekend or Emergency hospital responsibilities, supporting a sustainable balance between specialist clinical practice and time outside the hospital.
