Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing care for cats and dogs and is seeking a Veterinary Oncologist to join their Emergency and Specialty team. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available for an experienced Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Oncologist. This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative referral hospital committed to advanced veterinary medicine, clinical excellence, and exceptional patient outcomes.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Oncologist will provide advanced oncology care for a diverse referral caseload, including the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of a wide range of oncologic conditions. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans, administering and monitoring oncology therapies, collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists, and communicating treatment recommendations and prognoses with clients and referring veterinarians. The successful candidate will work closely with specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Emergency and Critical Care, and other specialty services to provide seamless patient care. Additional responsibilities include mentoring Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, interns, and support staff, participating in case rounds and continuing education, maintaining accurate medical records using EzyVet and Smart Flow, and remaining current with advances in veterinary oncology through continuing professional development. This position is suited to an experienced Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Oncologist.

Practice Details
This AAHA-accredited 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital has been serving Western New York for more than 30 years, providing advanced emergency, specialty, and referral services for cats and dogs. The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, CT imaging, and comprehensive in-house laboratory services. Supported by a strong and expanding referral network, the practice offers a collaborative environment where specialists work together to deliver multidisciplinary patient care. Veterinary services include primary care and wellness, behaviour consultations, dental care, a blood donor program, senior pet care, anesthesiology, intensive care and hospitalization, advanced diagnostics and imaging, internal medicine, oncology, surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, and end-of-life services. The hospital promotes mentorship, collaboration, continuing education, and professional development while providing the resources and technology needed to deliver the highest standard of specialty care. The hospital is open 24 hours a day for emergency care.

Team
The hospital is supported by a collaborative team of 26 DVMs and a great tenured support team. The Veterinary Oncologist will work alongside specialists, emergency clinicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, and experienced support staff in a multidisciplinary environment focused on exceptional patient care, clinical collaboration, and ongoing professional development.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
