Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing general medicine, specialty, and emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats in Ithaca, New York. They are seeking an experienced Veterinary Oncologist to join the hospital. The practice is open to both full-time and part-time applicants and provides a multidisciplinary environment with access to several specialty departments.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Oncologist will provide specialist oncology care, with clinical responsibilities including bone marrow aspirates, bone marrow transplants, cancer staging, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, metronomic therapy, and palliative treatment of cancer pain. The role is supported by clinical pathology capabilities, including blood chemistry, coagulation and hematology analysis, viral testing, and an in-house STAT laboratory. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.
Practice Details
The hospital is a 16,000-square-foot facility equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, an in-house laboratory, and CT. Departments include Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, and Surgical Neurology, with additional services including advanced care, alternative medicine, canine and feline diabetes care, preventive care, primary care, and laparoscopy. The hospital is AAHA accredited, Cat Friendly, and affiliated with the Feline Veterinary Medical Association. It is open seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and provides 24-hour care for hospitalized patients.
Team
The hospital has a large team of doctors working across multiple departments alongside more than 40 licensed technicians and assistants. The veterinarians support one another and work collaboratively across departments, creating a team-focused environment for multidisciplinary patient care.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
