Introduction
Our client is a specialty and emergency hospital based in Huntersville, North Carolina, seeking a Veterinary Internist to join their highly skilled and collaborative team. This state-of-the-art facility provides advanced care across multiple specialties, serving as a trusted referral center for pets throughout the Carolinas. The hospital is ideal for an internist who values teamwork, cutting-edge medicine, and a supportive environment where patient care always comes first.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position offering a flexible schedule designed to support work-life balance. Specialty appointments are available Monday through Friday, while the hospital’s emergency department operates 24/7, ensuring continuous care for patients. There are no mandatory overnight or weekend shifts for the Internal Medicine role, allowing for a structured and manageable workweek.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will be responsible for diagnosing and managing complex internal medicine cases while collaborating with other specialists and emergency doctors to deliver comprehensive, high-quality patient care. Daily responsibilities include performing consultations, advanced diagnostics, and internal procedures such as endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and ultrasound-guided sampling. The role also involves mentoring technicians, communicating clearly with clients and referring veterinarians, and contributing to the hospital’s culture of clinical excellence and teamwork.This position is open to board-certified or residency-trained internists who are dedicated to advancing medical standards and maintaining strong collaborative relationships across departments.

Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, fully equipped referral and emergency facility offering a wide range of diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including digital radiography, a 128-slice CT scanner, endoscopy (fiber optic and bronchoscopy), multiple ultrasound units, an in-house laboratory, and Snyder Intensive Care Units. The facility also includes SurgiVet multi-parameter monitoring systems, 24-hour care and hospitalization, and the CUBEX inventory management system, ensuring precision and efficiency in all aspects of patient care. The hospital provides specialty services in internal medicine, surgery, avian and exotic medicine, as well as 24-hour emergency and critical care.

Team
The team includes four board-certified specialists and seven emergency veterinarians, supported by a group of experienced and dedicated technicians. The culture is highly collaborative, with a focus on professional development, mentorship, and communication among the entire veterinary team. Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
