Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a specialty and emergency hospital in Santa Cruz, CA, seeking a Veterinary Internist to join their highly skilled team. The hospital is committed to providing advanced, collaborative care where patient well-being, client communication, and professional growth are at the forefront.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and this is a full-time position.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will be responsible for conducting exams, diagnostics, and prescribing treatments, as well as performing and overseeing advanced diagnostic testing and internal medicine procedures. The role includes mentoring staff, promoting teamwork, and maintaining efficiency. Additional responsibilities involve client education, cost estimation, and participation in continuing education. This position is open to experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
The hospital offers advanced specialty care, including critical care, internal medicine, oncology, and surgery. Internal medicine services include diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the immune, cardiovascular, pulmonary, urinary, gastrointestinal, and endocrine systems. Facilities are fully equipped to manage complex and referral cases, with a strong emphasis on collaborative case management between specialists and general practitioners.

Team
The hospital has a team of 19 DVMs supported by a highly skilled support staff, fostering a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
