Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Veterinary Internist to join its specialty-focused veterinary hospital in Stratford, Connecticut. The practice is expanding its services to launch an Internal Medicine department and is hiring an experienced, board-certified or residency-trained Small Animal Internist to deliver advanced outpatient specialty care.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The role is structured around four 10-hour weekdays. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Weekend and after-hours emergency coverage is to be discussed with the practice, as the role is outpatient focused.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will lead and develop the Internal Medicine department, providing outpatient specialty services. Clinical responsibilities include internal medicine consultations and rechecks, abdominal ultrasound, same-day endoscopy procedures, and advanced diagnostic and procedural case management. The role emphasizes continuity of care, collaboration with referring veterinarians, and clear client communication. This position is suited to an experienced internist who enjoys complex case work, department leadership, and building long-term professional relationships.

Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, well-equipped outpatient specialty facility currently offering orthopedic surgery, oncology, and primary care services. It is designed for efficient workflow and high-quality care, with dedicated anesthesia and nursing support for all procedures. Services offered within internal medicine include advanced diagnostics and procedures such as liver biopsy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, esophagoscopy, rhinoscopy, CT scans, gastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopy, gastric foreign body removal, and feeding tube placement. The practice benefits from a strong referral network and a growing client base, ensuring a steady and diverse caseload. The culture centers on collaboration, communication, and compassionate care.

Team
The wider veterinary group includes nearly 70 DVMs, with each hospital supported by a highly experienced and tenured support team. The working environment is collegial and collaborative, with strong technical, assistant, and client liaison support.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
