Introduction
A comprehensive 24/7 Emergency and Specialty hospital in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area is seeking a Veterinary Internist to join its team on a full-time or part-time basis. The opportunity is open to board-certified or residency-trained specialists and provides the opportunity to establish and develop an Internal Medicine service within an established multidisciplinary referral environment. Operating from a modern 20,000 sq. ft. purpose-built facility, the hospital provides advanced Emergency, Critical Care and Specialty medicine for dogs and cats, supported by extensive diagnostic capabilities, experienced clinical teams and access to a wider network of veterinary specialists.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will provide comprehensive specialist assessment and management of patients presenting with complex and chronic medical conditions, maintaining responsibility for diagnostic investigation, treatment planning, ongoing case management and communication with clients and referring veterinarians. The position provides access to advanced imaging and extensive in-house diagnostic capabilities to support the investigation of complex medical presentations, alongside opportunities for close collaboration with specialists across the hospital’s established departments. As the hospital continues to expand its referral capabilities, the incoming Internist will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of the Internal Medicine service, while working alongside skilled Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants and the wider specialty and Emergency team.

Practice Details
The hospital provides 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care, alongside established specialty services in Neurology, Radiation Oncology and Surgery. The modern 20,000 sq. ft. facility provides extensive diagnostic, treatment and surgical capabilities, with equipment including, but not limited to, an Aquilion 128-Slice CT Scanner with AIDR 3D, MRI, multiple Ultrasound systems, Digital Radiography, In-House Chemistry and CBC testing, Coagulation Analysis, Blood-Gas Analysis and 12-Lead ECG. Additional capabilities include advanced patient monitoring and specialist neurological diagnostics, while the Radiation Oncology service utilizes TrueBeam technology. Surgical capabilities encompass advanced Soft Tissue, Orthopedic, Reconstructive, Spinal and Emergency Surgery. The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing continuous Emergency and Critical Care alongside its specialist referral services.

Team
The hospital has an established multidisciplinary team of board-certified specialists, Emergency and Critical Care veterinarians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants. Current specialist expertise includes Surgery, Neurology and Radiation Oncology, providing opportunities for collaborative management of patients requiring input across multiple disciplines. The hospital is continuing to expand its referral capabilities, with Internal Medicine forming part of this ongoing development.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
