Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Veterinary Internist to join their specialty and referral team providing care for companion animals and exotics. This role offers the opportunity to manage complex medical cases within a collaborative hospital environment that values continuity of care, strong referral relationships, and high clinical standards.

Working Hours / Rota
The position offers full-time or part-time flexibility, with scheduling options typically 2–3 days per week. The hospital operates Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sunday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. No overnight or emergency coverage is required, and on-call responsibilities are limited and shared collaboratively among specialists.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will serve as the primary medical case manager for complex and chronic cases within a specialty referral model. Responsibilities include conducting internal medicine consultations, performing advanced diagnostics such as abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy, developing comprehensive treatment plans, and managing cases from diagnosis through long-term follow-up. The role involves collaborating closely with in-house general practitioners, surgical and cardiology specialists, referral partners, technicians, and a referral coordinator to ensure coordinated patient care.

Practice Details
The hospital operates from an 11,000 sq ft flagship facility designed to support both specialty and general practice medicine. Equipment and facilities include a Versana Balance ultrasound system, endoscopy, ICU, radiology, electronic medical records, a dental suite, underwater treadmill, dedicated surgery suites for both general practice and specialty procedures, multiple treatment areas, and separate patient wards. Services include Wellness Exams, Heartworm Prevention, Flea and Tick Control, Senior Pet Care, Glaucoma Management, Vaccinations, Allergy Management, Internal Medicine, Exotic Animal Care, Weight Loss and Conditioning using an Underwater Treadmill, Prescription Diets, Microchipping, Puppy and Basic Obedience Training Classes, and Grief Counseling. The hospital adheres to AAHA standards and emphasizes advanced medicine supported by ongoing education and training.

Team
The hospital is supported by 5 DVMs and a great tenured support team, including a boarded surgeon, cardiology specialist, licensed veterinary technicians, and overnight LVT coverage for hospitalized patients.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
