Job Description

Introduction
An established, multi-specialty referral hospital in the Garden City is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Internist to join its Internal Medicine team. As Idaho’s first integrated emergency and specialty center, this AAHA-accredited and VECCS Level II facility manages more than 100,000 patient visits annually and is supported by a collaborative team of 40 veterinarians, including emergency clinicians and specialists. This is an outstanding opportunity for an internist who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and values true interdisciplinary collaboration.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing continuous emergency and specialty care. Scheduling for the Internal Medicine service is structured within a shared specialty rotation, designed to support case continuity while maintaining sustainable work-life balance within a large, well-supported team.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will manage complex referral cases, develop advanced diagnostic and treatment plans, and collaborate closely with colleagues across multiple specialty services. The role includes consultation with referring veterinarians, comprehensive case management, and clear, compassionate client communication. You will work alongside specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, critical care, neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry and oral surgery, radiology, rehabilitation, and anesthesia and pain management, ensuring seamless multidisciplinary care. A commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork, and mentorship is essential, as the hospital supports rotating interns and specialty residents within a well-established training structure.

Practice Details
This 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging, dedicated specialty suites, modern medical record systems, and a full complement of specialty services including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Cardiology, Medical Oncology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Rehabilitation, Urgent Care, and Anesthesia & Pain Management. The facility maintains AAHA accreditation and VECCS Level II Emergency status, reflecting its commitment to high standards of patient care. A veterinary social worker is also part of the team, further supporting patients, clients, and staff. The hospital has a long-standing rotating internship program and specialty residency partnerships, reinforcing its reputation as a center for both clinical excellence and education.

Team
You will join a highly collaborative group of 40 veterinarians, including emergency clinicians and board-certified specialists, supported by experienced credentialed technicians, assistants, and client service professionals. The culture emphasizes mutual respect, shared knowledge, and a unified approach to patient care. Cross-service communication is routine, ensuring that complex cases benefit from collective expertise and a cohesive treatment strategy.
