Introduction
Our client is a leading AAHA-accredited 24/7 Emergency and Specialty hospital in Commerce, Michigan is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Internist on a full or part-time basis, to join its multidisciplinary team as a second Internist. Serving more than 10,000 patients each year, the hospital provides advanced care for dogs and cats across Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology & Neurosurgery and Surgery. The position provides the opportunity to manage a varied Internal Medicine referral caseload within an established specialty environment, supported by advanced clinical resources, a highly trained 24/7 ICU nursing team and close collaboration with Emergency and specialty colleagues.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Internist will be responsible for the investigation, diagnosis and ongoing management of patients presenting with complex and chronic medical conditions, developing individualized diagnostic and treatment plans and communicating findings and recommendations effectively with clients and referring veterinarians. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated Internal Medicine caseload while collaborating closely with colleagues across Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology & Neurosurgery and Surgery, supporting coordinated management of patients requiring multidisciplinary or intensive care. The position is suited to a board-certified or residency-trained Internal Medicine specialist.

Practice Details
The hospital operates as an AAHA-accredited 24/7 Emergency and Specialty facility, with specialty services encompassing Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology & Neurosurgery and Surgery, alongside round-the-clock Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care. The hospital provides the technology and equipment required to support advanced specialty medicine, with a highly trained ICU nursing team available 24 hours a day to assist with the management and monitoring of hospitalized and critically ill patients. Emergency care operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing Internal Medicine patients requiring hospitalization, intensive monitoring or multidisciplinary intervention to remain within an established environment.

Team
The hospital has an established multidisciplinary veterinary team led by a Medical Director and supported by a Hospital Director, experienced Emergency veterinarians, board-certified specialists and highly trained technical and client service professionals. The current clinical environment includes expertise across Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Neurology & Neurosurgery and Surgery, while the vacancy is specifically recruiting a second Internal Medicine specialist to further strengthen the hospital’s existing Internal Medicine service. The incoming Internist will also have access to a dedicated 24/7 ICU nursing team, providing substantial technical support for complex and hospitalized cases.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
