Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital in Middletown, Connecticut, seeking a residency-trained or board-certified Veterinary Dermatologist to join their expanding team. The hospital provides care for small animal patients and offers advanced dermatology services within a VECCS Level I facility. The practice emphasizes a collaborative, team-based culture and supports teaching of students, interns, and residents.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Specific doctor hours are open to discussion. The position can be full-time or part-time, depending on mutual agreement.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The veterinarian will develop and manage the dermatology service, collaborating with other specialty departments on treatment plans. The role emphasizes a doctor-led, medicine-first approach and supports teaching and mentorship for students, interns, and residents. This position is suitable for experienced veterinarians.

The hospital offers a state-of-the-art facility with all equipment needed for advanced dermatology practice, including an Antech reference laboratory and an on-site clinical pathologist. The practice prioritizes integrated care, collaboration, and professional development, partnering with rotating internships, specialty internships, residencies, and Middlesex Community College for AVMA-accredited veterinary technology clinical training.
Team
The Veterinary Dermatologist will join a collaborative and supportive team of technicians, assistants, a client liaison, primary and emergency veterinarians, and boarded specialists in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Avian/Exotics, and Critical Care. The environment fosters mentorship, teamwork, and professional growth.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
