Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary care and is seeking a Veterinary Criticalist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-level referral environment alongside multiple specialty services, delivering advanced critical care to a diverse caseload.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time or part-time position, offering flexibility in scheduling within a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Criticalist will provide advanced emergency and critical care, including management of complex and life-threatening cases. Responsibilities include delivering high-level patient care, utilizing advanced monitoring and life-support techniques, and collaborating closely with internal medicine, oncology, and surgical teams. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to patient management, and maintaining strong client communication. This position is suited to experienced, board-certified or residency-trained veterinarians.

Practice Details
This is a VECCS Level 2 certified hospital offering comprehensive specialty and emergency services including Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery. The hospital is equipped with advanced technology such as 7 exam rooms, 2 ultrasound suites, onsite MRI, 128-slice CT, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, wound vac, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), EMG, ICU ventilator, and video otoscope. Critical care capabilities include aggressive analgesia, cardiac output monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, continuous ECG monitoring and telemetry, direct blood pressure monitoring, mechanical ventilation, nasal and transtracheal oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, end tidal capnography, and transfusion therapy.

Team
The hospital has 16 DVMs and a great tenured support team, including VTS specialists in ECC and SAIM, fostering a highly collaborative and advanced clinical environment.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
