Introduction
Our client is seeking a full-time Veterinary Criticalist in Vancouver, Washington. This is an opportunity to join a leading specialty and emergency hospital that has been serving the community for more than 30 years. The hospital operates 24/7 and is dedicated to delivering advanced, compassionate veterinary care supported by a highly skilled team of emergency veterinarians, specialists, and support staff.

Working Hours / Rota
The Veterinary Criticalist will typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, with scheduling designed to support both patient care and professional balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Criticalist will oversee and manage critical care cases, providing advanced diagnostics, treatments, and monitoring for patients with complex medical needs. Collaboration with a team of emergency clinicians and specialists ensures the highest standards of care. Proficiency in abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy is preferred, with surgical skills considered an asset but not required. The role requires a balance of independence and teamwork to further develop and grow the hospital’s critical care services.

Practice Details and Team
The hospital operates from a 15,000-square-foot facility remodeled in 2019. Features include 14 exam rooms, three outpatient procedure rooms, two treatment areas, a custom ICU suite plus two additional ICU areas, four surgery suites, an endoscopy suite, and a dedicated imaging center. Advanced technologies include MRI, CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, echocardiography, mechanical ventilators, Snyder oxygen cages, dialysis, and a blood bank. Current specialty services include neurology, surgery, ophthalmology, and critical care, integrated seamlessly with emergency services.

Team Size
The hospital currently has a team of five emergency veterinarians and three board-certified specialists, supported by experienced technicians and support staff working together to deliver exceptional patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
