Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a well-established 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Veterinary Criticalist – Hospitalist. The hospital provides advanced emergency and critical care for domestic animals and offers a collaborative environment with access to multiple specialties and advanced diagnostic tools.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. This position offers a flexible, daytime-only schedule with limited weekend requirements, providing an excellent work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The role involves managing hospitalized patients and critical care cases within a busy emergency setting. The successful candidate will bring strong clinical skills, confidence in case management, and excellent communication abilities. Collaboration with ER clinicians, specialists, and highly skilled technicians is a key part of the role. Previous emergency or critical care experience is preferred, but board-eligible candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Practice Details
This hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technology, including digital radiography, ultrasound, MRI, CT, advanced surgical suites, and in-house laboratory facilities. Specialized capabilities include laser therapy, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, JP drains, sampling catheters, central and peripheral venous catheters, urinary and fecal lines, and an ICU oxygen therapy unit. The hospital is also home to the region’s first veterinary blood bank, providing plasma and packed red blood cells for patients and partner clinics. A K9 Trauma Response Program supports law enforcement working dogs, and advanced testing such as CPL, 4dx, feline triple, FPL, parvo, and giardia diagnostics are available on-site.

Team
The hospital is staffed with 11 DVMs supported by a large team of Certified Veterinary Technicians, several of whom are pursuing ECC certification. The environment is highly collaborative, with a strong focus on mentorship, professional growth, and supporting one another in delivering the highest quality care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
