Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a full-time Veterinary Criticalist to join their small animal specialty team. This established facility has been serving patients since 1986 and provides advanced, multidisciplinary care within a specialty and emergency setting.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position within a hospital that operates 24/7, providing continuous emergency and critical care services.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Criticalist provides advanced medical care to critically ill and emergent patients within a specialty hospital setting. Responsibilities include leading the assessment, stabilization, and management of complex and life-threatening cases; developing and overseeing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans; managing mechanical ventilation, transfusion therapy, and advanced monitoring techniques; and performing specialized procedures as indicated. The role involves close collaboration with emergency clinicians, specialty departments, and technical staff to ensure seamless patient care, as well as clear and compassionate communication with clients regarding prognosis, treatment options, and ongoing care. The Veterinary Criticalist maintains detailed medical records, practices evidence-based medicine, and upholds the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and professional leadership within the ICU environment. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital offers advanced diagnostic capabilities including onsite MRI, CT scan, digital radiography, ultrasound, a Servo-U mechanical ventilator, high flow capabilities, and additional advanced monitoring equipment. The ICU is supported by two VTS ECC Technicians, and the wider multidisciplinary environment includes collaboration with specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, internal medicine, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, ER/ECC, neurology and neurosurgery, dermatology, dentistry, radiology and diagnostic imaging, behavior services, and anesthesia and pain management.

Team
The team includes 49 DVMs across multiple specialties supported by a very strong support staff structure. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interdisciplinary communication and well-supported clinical teams dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
