Our client is a hospital providing emergency, critical care, and specialty services for dogs, cats, avians, and exotics and is seeking a full-time or part-time Veterinary Criticalist to join their team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced critical care specialist to work in a state-of-the-art referral hospital alongside a large multidisciplinary team while delivering exceptional care to critically ill patients. The hospital also offers opportunities to contribute to the education and development of future veterinary professionals through its house officer programs.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Criticalist will provide advanced critical care for a diverse caseload of dogs, cats, avians, and exotic species, working closely with boarded specialists and experienced emergency clinicians. Responsibilities include the management of critically ill and emergency patients requiring advanced intravenous fluid therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), mechanical ventilation, transfusion medicine, nutritional support, peritoneal dialysis, peri-operative and post-traumatic pain management, and continuous patient monitoring. The role also involves collaborating with the anaesthesia team during high-risk procedures and contributing to the teaching and mentorship of house officers. Practice Details
This 36,000-square-foot referral and emergency hospital provides comprehensive specialty and emergency services for dogs, cats, avians, and exotic species. The hospital features a dedicated intensive care unit designed for efficiency, including separate respiratory and gastrointestinal isolation wards, oxygen cages, quiet runs, and extensive kennel space to support the care of critically ill patients. Advanced technology includes digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, endoscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and state-of-the-art patient monitoring equipment. Specialty services include avian and exotic medicine, cardiology, digital radiology and diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, oncology, and surgery. Critical care capabilities include advanced intravenous fluid therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, nutritional support, transfusion medicine, peritoneal dialysis, continuous ECG monitoring through remote telemetry, oxygen therapy, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, rapid blood gas and electrolyte testing, an extensive in-house blood bank, and 24-hour access to laboratory equipment and advanced diagnostic imaging. The hospital operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and collaborates closely with a regional specialty and emergency network to provide seamless patient care.

Team
The hospital is supported by a team of 45 DVMs alongside highly trained technicians, boarded specialists, and experienced emergency clinicians. The collaborative environment places a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary patient care, mentorship, teaching, and advancing clinical excellence across all specialty services.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
