Our client is a hospital providing 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary care for dogs and cats in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is seeking an experienced Veterinary Criticalist to join the team. The hospital is open to both full-time and part-time applicants and offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering advanced emergency and critical care medicine. With AAHA accreditation, modern clinical facilities, and access to a wider network of veterinary specialists, the hospital provides an opportunity to manage complex and critically ill patients while working alongside experienced veterinary professionals.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Criticalist will be responsible for managing critically ill and injured patients, providing advanced intensive care, and collaborating with emergency clinicians and veterinary specialists to deliver comprehensive treatment plans. Clinical responsibilities include advanced patient stabilisation, aggressive analgesia, cardiac output monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, continuous ECG monitoring and telemetry, direct blood pressure monitoring, and respiratory support. The role also involves managing patients requiring mechanical ventilation, intermittent haemodialysis, nasal and transtracheal oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, end-tidal capnography, and transfusion therapy. Additional responsibilities include communicating with clients regarding complex medical conditions, supporting multidisciplinary case management, and contributing to a collaborative environment through clinical knowledge sharing and teaching. This position is specifically for an experienced, board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Criticalist.

Practice Details
The hospital is an AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency and specialty facility spanning approximately 10,000 square feet, with six examination rooms and two fully equipped surgical suites. The hospital provides emergency and critical care alongside specialist services in surgery, radiology, internal medicine, interventional radiology, rehabilitation, and physical therapy. Advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities include CT, digital fluoroscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and hyperbaric chamber therapy. The rehabilitation department is equipped with an underwater treadmill and K-Laser therapy equipment. Critical care capabilities include advanced cardiovascular monitoring, mechanical ventilation, haemodialysis, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion services. The hospital also benefits from access to a wider network of veterinary specialists, supporting consultation and collaboration on complex medical cases. Emergency services operate 24 hours a day.

The multidisciplinary clinical environment brings together emergency veterinarians, specialists, and experienced veterinary support staff, allowing for collaborative management of complex cases. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
