Our client is a hospital providing 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary care in West Los Angeles. The hospital is hiring a Veterinary Cardiologist to join its established cardiology service within a multidisciplinary specialty and emergency setting. The practice sees companion animal patients and offers advanced referral-level care supported by a wide range of specialties.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates on a 24-hour basis. The role is available on both a full-time and part-time basis, offering flexibility depending on the successful candidate’s availability and preferences.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The veterinary oncologist is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of cancer in animals. Clinical duties include evaluating patients with suspected or confirmed neoplasia; interpreting diagnostic tests such as cytology, histopathology, imaging, and staging investigations; and developing tailored treatment plans that may involve chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, radiation therapy, or palliative care. You will manage and monitor treatment response and side effects, handle oncologic emergencies, and provide long-term follow-up. You will also work closely with referring veterinarians, communicate complex prognostic and treatment information to pet owners with sensitivity, and often contribute to clinical research, teaching, and continuing professional development. The position is suited to a board-certified or residency-trained Cardiologist.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and functions as a 24-hour emergency and specialty referral center. It is a teaching hospital with a very strong rotating internship program, cardiology specialty interns, and visiting extern students. The practice offers specialty services including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Radiology, Oncology, and Emergency & Critical Care. Cardiology services include echocardiography, electrocardiography (ECG), and Holter monitoring. The caseload reflects a busy emergency and specialty environment with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

Team
The successful candidate will join a large, collaborative team of 27 DVMs across specialty and emergency disciplines, working specifically alongside an established team of two cardiologists. The hospital culture supports teaching, collaboration, and specialist-led care, with a strong emphasis on education and clinical excellence.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
