Job Description
Introduction
This urgent care hospital in Happy Valley, Oregon is seeking an Urgent Care Veterinarian to join its clinical team. The practice provides dedicated urgent care for dogs and cats, offering an alternative between routine general practice and emergency medicine for patients requiring timely treatment. The position is suited to a veterinarian who enjoys a varied, fast-paced caseload while maintaining greater scheduling flexibility than a traditional emergency role.
Working Hours / Rota
The role offers flexible scheduling across the hospital’s urgent care service, allowing the working pattern to be structured around both the veterinarian and the needs of the clinical team. The position is focused on urgent care rather than traditional overnight emergency coverage, providing exposure to acute cases without an overnight rota.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Urgent Care Veterinarian, you’ll assess and manage dogs and cats presenting with acute illnesses, injuries and other time-sensitive concerns that require prompt veterinary attention. You’ll perform examinations and diagnostic work-ups, develop treatment plans and carry out appropriate medical and procedural care while communicating clearly with pet owners. Previous emergency or urgent care experience is valuable, with the role offering clinical autonomy alongside an experienced support team.
Practice Details
The hospital is designed around a dedicated urgent care model, providing timely veterinary treatment for patients whose needs fall between scheduled general practice and emergency hospitalisation. Veterinarians are supported by an experienced clinical team and have access to modern diagnostic capabilities to investigate and manage a broad range of acute presentations. The environment places an emphasis on clinical autonomy, collaborative medicine and giving doctors the flexibility to make appropriate decisions for each patient.
