Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring for an Urgent Care Veterinarian to join their established small animal practice in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. This AAHA-accredited clinic focuses on dogs and cats and is expanding its services to include weekend urgent care to meet growing community demand. The role offers flexibility for either full-time or part-time candidates.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It is closed on Sundays. The new Urgent Care service will be active on weekends, specifically Saturdays and Sundays, with scheduling open to discussion based on candidate availability. There are no on-call duties required, as nearby emergency and specialty hospitals handle overnight cases.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Urgent Care Veterinarian will provide high-quality, timely care for dogs and cats requiring same-day treatment for non-life-threatening conditions. This role is best suited to a veterinarian with clinical experience and an interest in fast-paced, problem-focused medicine. Supported by a dedicated doctor’s assistant, the veterinarian will manage diagnostics, treatments, and communication with clients in an efficient and compassionate manner. The position is open to experienced veterinarians only.

Practice Details
The hospital is housed in a modern, three-story facility built in 2018 and is equipped with an in-house lab, digital radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, PRP, Vetrostim, and stem cell therapy. The clinic also uses eVet electronic medical records to streamline workflow. It follows Fear Free and Cat Friendly protocols, and its culture emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and work-life balance in a low-turnover environment.

Team
The team includes two DVMs and a strong support staff, including dedicated doctor’s assistants who handle key clinical and administrative duties. The environment is collaborative and efficient, designed to allow veterinarians to focus on medicine while feeling supported and valued in their roles.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
