Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring for a full-time Medical Director at Countryside Veterinary Clinic in Yorkville, Illinois. This AAHA-accredited small animal practice has been serving the pets of Kendall County for over 50 years and is deeply rooted in the local community. The clinic is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join its four-doctor team and take on a leadership role, guiding the hospital’s medical direction while contributing to its continued legacy of compassionate, high-quality care.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It is closed on Sundays. This is a full-time position with weekend coverage on a rotating basis, offering a balanced schedule that supports professional fulfillment and personal well-being.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will provide a range of services including routine wellness care, diagnostics, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry while also leading the clinical team and setting the standard for medical excellence within the hospital. There is significant opportunity for surgical exposure, particularly for those interested in advanced procedures such as orthopedic surgery, with mentorship available from a doctor trained in lateral sutures and medial patellar luxation repair. In addition to clinical duties, the Medical Director will mentor and support associate veterinarians, foster a collaborative and growth-focused culture, and partner with the practice manager to drive hospital performance, team engagement, and high-quality patient outcomes. Responsibilities also include client communication, medical documentation, and collaboration with a skilled support team. The role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who values team-based care and is looking to further develop both their clinical and leadership skills in a supportive environment.
Practice Details
The clinic is equipped with in-house lab capabilities, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, a surgical laser, and multiparameter monitoring equipment. Diagnostic ultrasounds and echocardiograms are supported through a mobile veterinary service. The surgery suite includes two heated surgical tables, and pre-operative protocols ensure comprehensive care with IV catheters and fluids. The practice is paperless with AVImark medical records and handles a high surgical caseload due to its partnerships with several local rescues.
Team
The practice includes four DVMs supported by a long-standing, experienced, and highly capable support team. Many technicians have been with the clinic for over 20 years and are fully utilized in all aspects of patient care, from radiographs to anesthesia. The team functions collaboratively, with doctors and support staff working together closely. The practice manager plays a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations, creating an environment where clinical excellence and team cohesion are top priorities, with the Medical Director serving as a key leader within this structure.
