Introduction
Our client is a full-service veterinary hospital that has been providing trusted care to dogs and cats in Yorktown and the surrounding communities since 1989. They are seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to join the practice on a full-time basis, combining clinical responsibilities with leadership of the hospital and veterinary medical team. The practice offers a diverse caseload spanning preventive care through advanced procedures, with an emphasis on personalized medicine, strong client relationships, collaboration, and continuity of care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will divide their time between clinical practice and leadership responsibilities, with an expected average split of approximately two-thirds veterinarian duties and one-third leadership duties. Working alongside the Practice Manager and wider operational leadership, they will oversee hospital operations, medical quality, client service, associate engagement, productivity, workflow, scheduling, and staffing. Leadership responsibilities include mentoring and developing veterinarians and staff, supporting recruitment and onboarding, leading doctor meetings, managing performance, maintaining medical standards and practice protocols, developing and enforcing SOPs, and supporting financial and strategic objectives. Clinically, the Medical Director will perform diagnostic workups, physical examinations, treatment planning, preventive and urgent care, surgery, dental procedures, and other treatments while prescribing and administering appropriate medications, vaccines, and therapies. They will maintain accurate medical and controlled substance records, communicate diagnoses and treatment plans with clients, promote patient and team safety, and build lasting client relationships. This position is for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of general practice services, ranging from preventive checkups and dentistry to diagnostics, urgent care, advanced soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic surgery. The practice has served Yorktown and surrounding communities since 1989 and combines experience, compassion, and modern veterinary medicine within a welcoming environment. Flexible scheduling is available to support work-life balance, and the hospital offers access to diagnostics, surgery, and urgent care cases within one location. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM for walk-in appointments only, and the hospital is closed on Sundays.

The Medical Director will work closely with the Practice Manager while leading, coaching, and developing veterinarians and other hospital associates.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
