Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital seeking an experienced Lead Veterinarian to join its team on a full-time basis. The practice provides general practice and urgent care services for small animals, offering a diverse caseload across wellness, surgery, and urgent care. This position combines hands-on clinical medicine with responsibility for supporting the medical team and contributing to the continued development of the hospital.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will remain actively involved in day-to-day patient care, providing high-quality medical, surgical, and urgent care while also serving as a clinical leader and trusted resource for the veterinary team. Responsibilities include supporting, coaching, and mentoring fellow veterinarians, encouraging continued learning and professional development, maintaining high medical standards and consistency in patient care, and working with practice leadership to support the hospital’s continued growth. The Lead Veterinarian will also help shape medical standards and hospital culture, foster a positive and collaborative working environment, and build strong relationships with clients. The position requires an experienced small animal veterinarian who is comfortable practicing independently and managing both general practice and urgent care cases. Previous leadership experience is preferred but is not required. Doctor hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with flexible full-time scheduling options available.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, laser therapy, and fully equipped dental and surgical suites. The state-of-the-art facility supports a comprehensive and diverse caseload across wellness and preventative medicine, surgery, and urgent care, with opportunities for veterinarians to develop their individual clinical interests. The practice has an established client base and is actively involved in local rescue efforts and its surrounding community.
Team
The hospital has four DVMs supported by an experienced and dedicated support team. The environment is collaborative and laid-back, with an emphasis on teamwork, clinical autonomy, and collaboration without micromanagement. The Lead Veterinarian will play an active role in supporting and developing fellow doctors while helping to maintain a positive culture where veterinarians and team members feel supported.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
