Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring a Medical Director to join a small animal practice providing care to cats and dogs. The hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to lead the clinical team while delivering high-quality, compassionate care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The role involves a combination of leadership and clinical responsibilities, including mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, conducting performance discussions, and supporting individual growth and retention. The Medical Director will work closely with the Practice Manager to drive hospital performance, contribute to operational planning, and ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards. Clinical duties include wellness and preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery, alongside managing complex cases and maintaining high standards of patient care. This is a full-time position suited to experienced veterinarians.
Practice Details
Our client is a small animal hospital committed to delivering modern, high-quality veterinary medicine with a strong focus on compassionate care and client relationships. The practice offers services including wellness and prevention, testing and diagnostics, advanced care, and surgical procedures. The hospital is equipped with in-house ultrasound and supports complex cases in dentistry and soft tissue surgery. The culture emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and continuous professional development, supported by access to a broader medical network and educational resources. Hospital opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am–6:00 pm, with weekends closed.
Team
The team consists of 2 DVMs supported by a great tenured support team. The environment is collaborative, supportive, and focused on mentorship, growth, and delivering high-quality patient care.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
