Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing full-service veterinary care and is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead their established practice in Waxhaw, North Carolina. The clinic delivers comprehensive care for cats, dogs, exotic mammals, pocket pets, and geriatric patients, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to step into a leadership role.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm, and is closed on Sunday. This is a full-time position, with participation in Saturday coverage.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, providing high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care while guiding the clinical direction of the hospital. Responsibilities include mentoring and inspiring the veterinary team, supporting hospital operations alongside leadership, maintaining medical standards, and building strong client relationships. The role is suited to an experienced veterinarian with strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills who is passionate about delivering excellent patient care and fostering a positive team culture.

Practice Details
This is a full-service animal hospital offering comprehensive veterinary services including routine exams, vaccinations and prevention, internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, geriatric care, and emergency services. The facility is equipped with in-house diagnostics laboratory, digital radiology, dental radiology, on-site pharmacy, a well-equipped surgical suite with multi-parameter monitoring, and surgical lasers, with additional access to ultrasonography and advanced surgery through mobile specialists. The hospital provides care for a diverse caseload including small animals and exotic mammals, within a comfortable and welcoming environment supported by experienced leadership and a loyal client base.

Team
The team consists of 3 DVMs supported by a great tenured support staff, creating a collaborative and supportive working environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
