Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a well-established, AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital seeking a full-time Medical Lead Veterinarian to join their team. The hospital provides comprehensive care primarily for dogs and cats alongside a robust and established exotic caseload, including birds, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, hedgehogs, and other less-common species. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian looking to combine hands-on clinical medicine with meaningful medical leadership while remaining predominantly focused on their own caseload and clinical interests.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Lead Veterinarian will spend approximately 80–90% of their time in clinical practice, providing high-quality care across wellness, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, internal medicine, urgent care, and complex case management. Responsibilities include independently managing a broad caseload, developing individualized treatment plans, building strong client relationships, and continuing to develop individual clinical interests and areas of expertise. Approximately 10–20% of the role will focus on medical leadership, serving as a trusted clinical resource, helping guide medical standards and protocols, promoting consistency in patient care, collaborating on challenging cases, and supporting the clinical development of fellow doctors. The Medical Lead will also partner with hospital leadership on clinical workflows, medical equipment, and quality initiatives while helping shape the hospital’s continued clinical growth and direction. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian who leads collaboratively and by example.

Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, remaining closed on Sundays. The full-time position offers a four-day work week. The AAHA-accredited hospital provides comprehensive small animal general practice alongside an established exotic caseload, with services including preventative and wellness care, dentistry, surgery, internal medicine, senior pet care, urgent and same-day care, end-of-life care, advanced medicine, diagnostics, and complex case management. The well-equipped facility features multiple exam rooms, dedicated surgical capabilities, comprehensive dental equipment, in-house diagnostics, radiology, advanced patient monitoring, and treatment areas designed to support efficient, high-quality patient care. Veterinarians are encouraged to develop individual clinical interests, including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, exotics, and ultrasound, with continuing education support and access to RACE-approved CE facilitated by veterinary specialists within a wider clinical network.

Team
The Medical Lead will join a team of five DVMs supported by eight certified veterinary technicians and an experienced support team providing assistance across patient care, client education, anesthesia, surgery, laboratory diagnostics, dentistry, and appointment flow. The hospital fosters a collaborative, mentorship-focused environment centered around compassion, communication, continuous learning, and professional development. The Medical Lead will play an active role in supporting fellow doctors, encouraging open clinical discussion, sharing knowledge, and strengthening medical excellence across the team.
