A well-established small animal practice in Thornton, Colorado is seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead a collaborative, three-veterinarian team. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys shaping clinical standards, mentoring colleagues, and balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on medicine in a community-focused hospital.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 2:00pm, with no Sunday hours. The Medical Director role is full-time, offering a stable, predictable schedule that supports both leadership responsibilities and clinical practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you will set the clinical vision for the hospital while continuing to practice high-quality small animal medicine. Responsibilities include overseeing medical standards and protocols, supporting and mentoring associate veterinarians, and partnering closely with the practice manager to drive operational and cultural excellence. You will guide patient care, support professional development across the team, and play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring exceptional outcomes for patients, clients, and staff alike.

Practice Details
The practice provides comprehensive small animal services, including wellness and preventative care, dentistry, routine and orthopedic surgery, and advanced diagnostics. Facilities are well equipped with on-site digital radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, in-house testing, and a full-service pharmacy. Systems and workflows are designed to support efficiency, consistency, and high medical standards across all areas of care.

Team
You will lead a three-veterinarian team supported by experienced nursing and client care staff. The culture is collaborative, respectful, and growth-oriented, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, teamwork, and maintaining a positive working environment. Leadership is encouraged to be visible, supportive, and engaged in both clinical and team development.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
