Job Description

Introduction
This soon-to-open small animal hospital in Asante, Arizona is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to help establish and lead its clinical team. The position combines hands-on veterinary medicine with clinical leadership, giving the incoming doctor the opportunity to shape medical standards, mentor fellow veterinarians and contribute to the culture of a brand-new hospital. Approximately 85% of the role will remain focused on practising medicine, with around 15% dedicated to leadership and team development.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a clinical leadership opportunity within a new hospital currently preparing to open. Specific hospital opening hours and the veterinarian’s rota have not yet been provided. The Lead Veterinarian will work closely with hospital leadership on doctor scheduling and staffing, with an emphasis on balancing patient access, team wellbeing and sustainable clinical practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll maintain your own clinical caseload while providing mentorship, coaching and real-time clinical guidance to Associate Veterinarians. You’ll help establish and continually improve medical protocols, promote high standards of patient care and safety, support the onboarding and development of new doctors and encourage collaborative case management across the team. You’ll also partner with the hospital’s operational leadership on recruitment, staffing and the continued development of a positive clinical culture, while retaining autonomy over your own medical decision-making.

The hospital is a new, modern small animal practice preparing to open in Asante, Arizona, providing the incoming Lead Veterinarian with the opportunity to help shape its clinical environment from the outset. The facility is being developed around modern veterinary technology, advanced diagnostics and collaborative medicine, with an emphasis on giving doctors the resources and autonomy required to deliver high-quality patient care. The leadership structure is designed to keep the Lead Veterinarian predominantly clinical while providing dedicated time to mentor doctors and influence the hospital’s medical standards as the team grows.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
