Introduction
Our client is a well-established veterinary hospital in Lewiston, Maine, providing small companion animal care for cats and dogs. They are seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to join the practice on a full-time basis. This opportunity combines practicing medicine with establishing the direction and medical quality of the hospital, supported by resources across operations, marketing, human resources, and payroll.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian will continue practicing clinically while taking responsibility for the direction and medical quality of the hospital. The role involves providing leadership within a collaborative environment while maintaining a strong focus on high-quality medicine, compassionate patient care, and trusted client relationships. The successful veterinarian will work a four-day weekday schedule with a rotating half-day Saturday and no on-call responsibilities. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital has an established client base and provides advanced care, dermatology, digital radiology, ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, canine and feline diabetes management, preventive care, and primary care. The practice operates a concierge model with two technicians supporting every DVM, and clinicians have access to a veterinary scribe program. Night and weekend patient care is supported by an emergency hospital. The supplied hours are Monday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Tuesday from 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, and Wednesday through Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with Saturday and Sunday listed as closed.

Team
The hospital has two DVMs and a great tenured support team, with a two-technician-to-one-DVM support model. The environment emphasizes collaboration, teaching, continuous learning, teamwork, and developing strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
