Our client is a hospital providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats and is seeking a full-time Medical Director to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to lead a well-established small animal general practice while maintaining an active clinical role. Working alongside the Practice Manager, the successful candidate will help shape the hospital’s future by driving medical excellence, mentoring the veterinary team, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on exceptional patient and client care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will serve as the clinical leader of the hospital, balancing hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities. The role involves delivering high-quality medicine while mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, maintaining medical quality standards, and supporting the professional growth of the veterinary team. Working closely with the Practice Manager, the Medical Director will provide medical oversight of hospital operations, promote exceptional patient and client experiences, and support the achievement of hospital performance goals. Clinical responsibilities include wellness and preventative care, internal medicine, urgent care, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics. The successful candidate will also engage with the local community through client education and outreach initiatives to strengthen the hospital’s presence and support continued growth. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian with a passion for leadership, mentorship, and clinical excellence.

Practice Details
This full-service small animal hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats in Wakefield and the surrounding community. The hospital offers a busy but well-paced general practice caseload with a strong emphasis on preventative medicine, wellness care, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, internal medicine, and urgent care. The practice is equipped with digital radiography, in-house laboratory diagnostics, and modern surgical and patient monitoring equipment to support a broad range of medical and surgical services. Services include wellness examinations, vaccinations, dental care, diagnostics and imaging, allergy and dermatology services, nutrition and diet counselling, pet surgery, spays and neuters, mass and tumour removals, wound repair, bladder stone removal, foreign body surgery, and soft tissue surgical procedures, with specialist referrals available for advanced orthopaedic procedures when required. The hospital operates Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Team
The hospital is supported by a team of 4 DVMs and a great tenured support team. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
