Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a small animal veterinary hospital in South Hadley, Massachusetts, providing care primarily for dogs and cats. They are seeking an experienced Medical Director to join the practice on a full-time basis, combining clinical medicine with medical leadership. The hospital has served the South Hadley, Chicopee, Holyoke, and Granby communities for more than 20 years and is focused on delivering high-quality, compassionate veterinary care.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will combine clinical practice with responsibility for guiding medical quality, mentoring associate veterinarians, and helping shape the hospital’s culture and clinical standards. The role allows the Medical Director to focus on practicing and teaching veterinary medicine, with dedicated support already in place for payroll, scheduling, marketing, and operations. There are no on-call hours. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.
Practice Details
The hospital offers a full scope of primary and preventive care alongside advanced capabilities including full digital radiography with dental radiographs, ultrasound, Tonopen, and a user-friendly electronic medical record system. While the caseload is primarily dogs and cats, the practice also regularly sees rabbits and pocket pets, with exotic small animal medicine representing a longstanding strength of the hospital. The practice provides access to specialists and professional development and Medical Director leadership resources. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and the hospital is closed on Sundays.
Team
The hospital has two DVMs and a great tenured support team. The practice has a collaborative and supportive team culture, with an experienced support team allowing the Medical Director to concentrate on clinical medicine, medical leadership, mentoring, and teaching.
