Introduction
Our client is a small animal hospital seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead its companion animal practice in South Barrington, Illinois. The hospital provides primary care services for dogs and cats and is deeply rooted in the local community, with over 30 years of service in the greater Barrington area. This AAHA-accredited, feline-friendly and Fear-Free accredited practice is focused on wellness, preventative care, and building long-lasting relationships with a loyal client base.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm. This is a full-time position.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will provide clinical care while driving the hospital’s medical standards, culture, and overall direction. Responsibilities include wellness and sickness exams, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention, preventive dental care, spay and neuter procedures, diagnostic testing, and end-of-life care. The role also involves mentoring and supporting fellow veterinarians, collaborating closely with the practice manager and leadership team, and guiding improvements in patient care and client service. The Medical Director will foster a collaborative environment, support staff development, and help shape strategic growth while maintaining a strong focus on medical excellence and client education.

Practice Details
This well-established companion animal hospital is AAHA-accredited, feline-friendly, and Fear-Free accredited. The facility is equipped with advanced diagnostics and treatment capabilities including digital radiography, dentistry, surgery, laser therapy, and access to ultrasound services. Diagnostic services include laboratory testing such as blood, urine, and fecal testing, along with diagnostic imaging. The hospital emphasizes comprehensive client education, high-quality patient care, and a welcoming, comfortable environment supported by modern digital equipment to aid in accurate and timely diagnoses.

Team
The hospital team includes 2 DVMs working within a supportive and collaborative environment. The culture emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, and long-term relationships with clients and their pets, with a dedicated staff focused on delivering consistent, high-quality care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
