Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing specialty and emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats in Wilson, North Carolina, and is seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to join the team on a full-time basis. The hospital is an established specialty and emergency referral facility and one of only two VECCS-certified facilities in North Carolina, with a focus on advanced patient care, medical excellence, and continued development of its specialty and emergency services.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian will provide medical leadership while remaining connected to patient care and clinical practice. Responsibilities include advancing clinical standards, supporting team development, mentoring veterinarians, strengthening referral relationships, supporting recruitment efforts, and helping guide the continued growth of specialty and emergency services. The Medical Director will work alongside the hospital leadership team to support a culture centered on accountability and high-quality medicine. The specific Medical Director schedule will be discussed with the hospital. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital is a VECCS-certified, purpose-built specialty facility designed to support advanced patient care and a healthy working environment. Clinical resources include laparoscopy, arthroscopy, an in-house 64-slice CT with an in-house DACVR, telemetry ECG, endoscopy, high-flow oxygen, ventilators, and advanced ultrasound capabilities. Emergency and critical veterinary care is available 24 hours a day. Services include emergency care, boarded critical care, boarded specialty surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging. Internal medicine capabilities include the management of complex gastrointestinal, kidney, liver, endocrine, and immune conditions using advanced diagnostics such as ultrasound and endoscopy. Surgical capabilities include TPLO, disc herniation surgery, lung lobectomy, soft tissue surgery, oncologic surgery, and both emergency and elective procedures.

Team
The hospital has 16 DVMs and a great tenured support team, including boarded specialists and experienced emergency veterinarians. The clinical team includes specialists across Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiology, and Emergency & Critical Care, with a working environment that encourages collaboration, mentorship, shared case management, and continuous learning.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
