Job Description

Introduction
Our client is an emergency veterinary hospital hiring for a Medical Director. The practice provides emergency and urgent veterinary care and is dedicated to delivering high-quality medicine with compassion for clients and respect for referring veterinary partners. The Medical Director will work closely with the Practice Manager to lead the hospital’s clinical team and support continued growth and performance.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The hospital operates emergency services with hours including Monday 24 hours, Tuesday from 12:00am to 8:00am, Friday from 8:00am to 11:59pm, and 24-hour service on Saturday and Sunday.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee clinical operations while providing emergency and urgent care for patients. Responsibilities include directing the development and implementation of medical services, advising on clinical policies and procedures, and ensuring efficient use of staff while maintaining high standards of patient care. The role also includes mentoring and supervising the clinical team, monitoring training and continuing education, evaluating the performance of technical staff, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. The Medical Director will oversee client medical issues, maintain relationships with the referring veterinary community, and monitor all aspects of medical quality. This position is open to experienced veterinarians.

The hospital team consists of 2 DVMs supported by a great tenured support team, creating a collaborative and supportive working environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
