Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a general practice seeking a full-time Lead Veterinarian to join their team. The hospital provides care for dogs and cats and is looking for an experienced veterinarian to take on a leadership role within a new clinic in San Jose.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will dedicate approximately 85% of their time to clinical duties and 15% to leadership responsibilities. Clinical work includes a range of general practice services such as wellness exams, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, and preventative care. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role involves mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, leading daily rounds, and conducting regular team meetings to foster a positive culture. The Lead Veterinarian will also collaborate with leadership on budgeting, staffing, and hospital productivity, oversee medical procedures and guidelines, support recruitment efforts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient- and client-centered care. This role is suited to an experienced veterinarian.
Practice Details
This is a new general practice hospital in San Jose that is not yet open. The clinic will provide a wide range of services including wellness care, vaccinations, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, dermatology, behavioral consultations, nutritional counseling, oncology diagnostics, microchipping, spaying and neutering, euthanasia, and travel documentation. The practice is focused on delivering high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care while empowering veterinarians with autonomy and supporting a collaborative and positive culture. The hospital aims to build a strong, community-focused environment with a commitment to excellence and continuous development.
Team
The team will be comprised of talented and experienced veterinarians supported by additional staff, with a focus on collaboration, mentorship, and building a positive and supportive hospital culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
