Introduction
Our client is a transformative veterinary hospital seeking a Full-Time Medical Director to lead its clinical team while continuing to provide exceptional care for cats and dogs. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, low-stress veterinary medicine through a Fear Free Certified approach, the hospital prioritizes the emotional wellbeing of every patient alongside their physical health, creating better visits, healthier outcomes, and happier families.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Medical Director is responsible for providing exceptional medical, surgical, and preventive care while leading the hospital’s clinical team and maintaining the highest standards of veterinary medicine. Clinical responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, developing treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and performing routine and advanced surgical and dental procedures based on experience. In addition to their clinical duties, the Medical Director mentors and supports veterinarians, promotes clinical excellence through training and case collaboration, ensures compliance with medical protocols and regulatory standards, drives quality improvement initiatives, and works closely with hospital leadership to enhance patient outcomes, client satisfaction, and overall hospital performance. They are expected to foster a positive, collaborative culture while balancing hands-on clinical work with leadership and strategic oversight. This opportunity is suited to experienced veterinarians only.

Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on Sundays.
The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical technology to support high-quality companion animal medicine. Veterinarians have access to a comprehensive in-house laboratory for rapid blood work and diagnostic testing, digital radiography (X-ray), digital dental radiography, advanced diagnostic imaging, and modern anesthesia monitoring equipment. Outside ultrasound and echocardiography services are also available to support advanced diagnostics, enabling the team to provide preventative, urgent, medical, surgical, and dental care.
The modern facility features a full IDEXX in-house laboratory and five spacious examination rooms designed with patient comfort in mind. It includes dedicated examination rooms, a fully equipped treatment area, surgical facilities, advanced diagnostic imaging, and comfortable patient care spaces. As the first veterinary hospital in California to achieve Fear Free Practice-Level Certification, the facility is specifically designed to minimize stress through Fear Free handling techniques, pheromone-infused environments, and flexible examination options that priorities patients’ emotional wellbeing.
The hospital is the first animal hospital in California to achieve Fear Free Practice-Level Certification, with every member of the team Fear Free Certified.
Services include wellness examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention and control, dental cleanings with digital dental radiography, spays and neuters, soft tissue surgery, in-house diagnostics, diagnostic imaging, urgent care for non-life-threatening conditions, behavioral consultations, nutritional counselling, puppy and kitten care, pain management, end-of-life care, online pharmacy services, the ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions, and outside ultrasound and echocardiography services.

Team
The hospital is home to four DVMs working within a supportive, collaborative environment that encourages teamwork, clinical excellence, and high-quality patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
