Job Description

Introduction
This brand-new small animal hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to establish and lead its growing clinical team. Purpose-built by veterinarians, the practice has been designed to support high-quality medicine through advanced technology, modern equipment, and efficient workflows that allow doctors to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks. The hospital provides comprehensive general practice services for dogs and cats, including wellness care, preventative medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery. The practice is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, with flexible scheduling available including two, three, or four 10-hour shifts each week.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll combine hands-on clinical practice with medical leadership, delivering exceptional preventative, medical, dental, and surgical care while mentoring and developing the veterinary team. You’ll perform routine procedures including spays, neuters, and dentals, alongside advanced soft tissue surgeries such as mass removals, laceration repairs, gastropexies, hernia repairs, and selected foreign body surgeries. You’ll also establish medical standards, oversee clinical quality and compliance, mentor associate veterinarians, and support the development of technicians and assistants while helping shape the culture of this brand-new hospital.

Practice Details
This purpose-built veterinary hospital has been equipped with modern technology to support efficient, high-quality patient care. Facilities include in-house haematology and chemistry analysers, urinalysis, digital radiography, Butterfly ultrasound, anaesthesia monitoring, laser therapy, microscopy, and autoclave sterilisation equipment. The practice is designed to support two to three veterinarians and maintains a planned 2:1 support staff ratio, creating an environment where clinical teams can deliver outstanding patient care with excellent operational support.

Team
You’ll lead a collaborative team of two to three veterinarians working alongside skilled technicians and assistants in a hospital built around teamwork, mentorship, and clinical excellence. As the hospital’s clinical leader, you’ll play a key role in developing associate veterinarians, supporting the wider team, and establishing medical standards while working closely with operational leadership to build a positive and supportive culture from day one.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
