Introduction
Our client is a busy 3 doctor small animal and exotic veterinary clinic located just outside Sacramento, California, and they are hiring for a Medical Director position. This hospital sees small animals and a wide range of exotic species, and the role includes a significant focus on exotic medicine.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. There are no weekends, no after-hours emergency duties, and no on-call requirements. They offer flexible work schedules tailored to individual needs or preferences.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The position is a Medical Director role with clinical responsibilities that include working with a caseload that is approximately 50% exotics, including small mammals, parrots, reptiles, raptors, wildlife, and more. The clinic also has a strong falconry client base with opportunities to work extensively in this area if desired. The role requires an experienced veterinarian, and the ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with exotics being imperative.

Practice Details
The hospital is spacious and modern, featuring five exam rooms, a double surgical suite, a 4-sink treatment area, species-specific wards, digital radiology, dental radiology, ultrasound, rigid endoscopy, a comprehensive in-house diagnostic lab, and cloud-based electronic medical records for convenient access from home. The clinic provides multiple services including avian medicine and surgery, exotic medicine and surgery, medical services, nutritional counselling, patient monitoring, pet supplies, preventive services, surgical services, a wellness program, and additional services. Multiple options for secondary and tertiary referral are close by.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
